Day Six - Random Thoughts
It turns out Vegas is not quite complete after all. I had an oops moment and left out her beloved bone. So back to the studio for that one.
It's the end of the week and tonight is a "work night." It's 4th Friday so I always keep my studio open for those who visit the local galleries and studios in the Manchester district of Richmond. My studio partner Mike will be there also.
We're totally different painters and make an artistic version of the odd couple. But it works for us and our work looks great together. He's a non-objective paintslinger ( my endearing term) and I'm a photo-realist illustrator. We've collaborated on a couple of pieces and plan to do more. Our energies balance one another ; he is a wild man! ready to take on whatever comes his way and I am deliberate or controlling about what I plan to do. We both love color, we are both open to possibility, we learn from one another and most importantly of all to work as a team, we both have spouses who are very supportive.
Here is a painting we both worked on together. I'll explain our process in the next posting.

Day Four - Vegas
This is Vegas. One of my loyal clients has been waiting for this painting for quite awhile. There are many reasons why a painting may take as long as this one did, and I will save that for another posting.
Vegas is one of several dogs that have been rescued by this wonderful family. She is a boxer ? mix and the sweetest "wild child" you'll ever meet. I couldn't quite capture her full energy, particularly in this seated image, so I went out to visit this dog that preferred to be outdoors rather than in. And boy, did meeting her help. I needed to capture the life in her eyes and that "ready to bounce off the sofa" look. Hopefully I've succeeded.

Day Three - 4th Fridays
This Friday night is 4th Fridays in Manchester. All you locals should come visit Studio 8 at Plant Zero. And Artspace. And Art Works. And 1212 Gallery. A great night for an art walk.
I'm still learning blog options ( ok, I'm a slow study).
Goal for today: post an image. Ahhh, that went well. This is Precious Pup and the painting lives with one of my collectors.
Hello to my Monday nighters, who may be checking in today. :-)

Day Two on the Blog
This is new territory for someone who would rather be painting or hanging out with her dogs than spending time on the computer. I'm still navigating all the options the blogger world has to offer, and eventually hope to post bi-weekly. give or take.
The whole reason behind blogging is to keep my clientele informed as to what I'm doing, where I'm showing work, what's up with the wait list!! and so on. I find it a little disconcerting to be so public, when I'm essentially a private person. Not shy, just private.
Anyway, here goes Post No. 2 and more will follow in due time.
Then I'm off to the studio. Commission work is calling.
